Jakob and Hannah
We both started visual communication studies at the same time and were more or less equally into photography as well as graphic design in the beginning. But then we began to focus on fashion photography and since we always had kind of the same taste it just seemed like a good idea to work together.
Is there a story to tell in your photographs?
Every single work tells its own story. At least, that’s what we strive for. It is always based on a certain idea, but we like to put it into action in a rather abstract way with no precise story line and definitely leave some questions unanswered.
What are your favourite subjects?
For Hannah it’s currently everything devotional, traditional, creepy. Jakob is more into minimalistic work, but still with some kind of an gloomy and lost atmosphere. Since we work as a duo, we always swap ideas.
What’s your favourite photography medium, film or digital?
We do love analogue and like to combine media, though we mostly use digital.
Why did you move into fashion photography?
That is hard to say. It just happened somehow. The thing we love about fashion photography is the fact,
that it can be very conceptual and still really creative at the same time. Plus you always work as a team
and when all the creativity sums up you are able to create something much bigger.
Who or what has been your main inspiration as a photographer ?
Mostly moods and atmospheres. Could be in a movie, music, fashion, everything. When we start working it can even be a certain term or item and then it becomes more and more abstract.
What projects are coming up next for you?
We just graduated this summer, so we are quite excited about what comes next. There are are few editorials in the queue that we are really looking forward to!
Favourite hang outs?
La côte atlantique – in a van.
What do you like in fashion & what do you dislike?
We like fashion itself – everything new and everything timeless. You meet a lot of people, who are really inspiring and dedicated to their work. We don't really dislike that much... We tend to do what we love and work with people we love.
